SERVANTS OF JESUS CHRIST, MINISTERING TO ONE ANOTHER,
TO OUR COMMUNITY, AND TO OUR WORLD

The family of believers at First Presbyterian Church is a family of servants.  We take care of one another, we serve the community around us, and we go out into the world to spread the joy of the gospel.  We use God's gifts to glorify Him and His Son, Jesus Christ.  Our congregation lives its faith daily, applying servant values of Jesus described in the acronym S.E.R.V.A.N.T.S.  These values encourage each person to share those talents and gifts for the kingdom of God.

SPIRIT FILLED

Who we are is a reflection of the life of Jesus.  Coming together for weekly worship renews and strengthens our faith.  Singing in the men's choir, the chancel choir, or Logos Ladies Choir, or ushering are just a few examples of how the faithful can serve our Lord as we celebrate with the Holy Spirit among us.

EMPATHY

Jesus shows us compassion: we show compassion.  Stephen Ministries, Day and Night Deacons, or numerous local mission projects provide us with opportunities to listen and to show the love of Christ to people around us.

RENEWAL

We energize ourselves for service by attending Sunday church school, Vacation Bible School, or Wednesday night Logos.  As teachers or students, or by joining a daytime Bible study or women's circle, together we renew and fortify our faith.

VISIBLY SEEKING OUT

Serving Jesus means that we live and look outwardly to share God's love with others.  Sunday morning Bridge Builders, Habitat for Humanity, or Coffeehouse concerts are some of the ways we can share the gospel with others.

ALL TOGETHER

Numerous small groups support our community of faith, including Dinner Bells, Men's Groups, or Marriage Enrichment.  The church picnic, Adult Fellowship, and women's retreat involve larger numbers of people desiring fellowship with their church family.

NEARING GOD

Prayer is at the core of all we do as servants; it is how we listen to our Lord and how we learn His will.  The Prayer Circle leads by example, and all people are encouraged to experience the joy of drawing closer to God through daily prayer and devotions.

TEACHING

Through Bible Study, we mature as servants and equip ourselves to show others the power of God's wisdom and love.  Weekly Bible study in small groups or on Sunday morning, daily Bible study at home or with people out in the greater community--these are all ways in which we learn the Word and share it, as Jesus commanded us to do.

SUBMISSION

Jesus is the perfect example of submission, and so as obedient servants we submit ourselves to following His ways.  Participation in the church's ministry through the many different activities, groups, and projects strengthens us as His witnesses for the Gospel.  We can invite others on our walk with Jesus, glorifying God and enjoying His love every day.
