Project Linus Donates Their 1,000th Blanket

"The best kind of sleep under heaven above, is under a blanket handmade with love.”  The first mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”  Secondly, it is their mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.  Since May 2002, First Pres. “blanketeers” have made and donated 1013 blankets to the Will County chapter of Project Linus, that distributed them to over
40 agencies serving children, newborn to 17 years old.

Over the years our group has been blessed with women who come to our workdays at church and those who sew, crochet or knit blankets at home.  We have some very talented ladies in our church.  Please check out the First Pres. website for pictures of blanket recipients and of our blanketeers” and some of the blankets they have made.
If you would like to be a part of this ministry, focusing on local mission, please call the church office at 815-727-9259.
